Inför matchen Gillingham - Charlton

FA Cup: MEMS Priestfield Stadium, Lör 2 Dec kl 16:00

After laboured league performances against lowly Carlisle and Cheltenham, Charlton make the short journey out to Kent for a 2nd Round FA Cup tie against Gillingham.

After relegation from League 1 last season, The Gills so far are in a healthy league position of 7th. Like Charlton, Gillingham found themselves having to replace their manager/head coach already this season with Neil Harris getting the boot in October. Stephen Clemence his replacement in his first managerial role.

The Gills last outing In the FA cup 1st Round was a routine 2-0 against Hereford. Whereas the Addicks made a meal of their first fixture against Cray Valley Paper Mills, eventually progressing into the next round over 2 legs.

If other cup games under Appleton are to go by, he has fielded a fairly strong starting line-up's with some academy players and additional options off the bench. Leaburn looks a major doubt though, picking up an hamstring injury in the Cheltenham match just before half-time. That’s leaves us a little short in the forward positions. A situation we know all too well in recent years. This will probably see Tedić come in the the team and perhaps Alfie May coming on should we need him.

Plenty of familiar faces in the Gills side that may come back to haunt us. George Lapslie, Jonny Williams and Macauley Bonne all making appearances from the bench in their win against Wimbledon.

The Addicks will be looking for their first win at the Priestfield Stadium since 2019 and this should really be a winnable fixture for Charlton. COYA!
