Charlton Athletic saw off Bournemouth to get their League One campaign off to a winning start despite having to survive the last half hour with 10 men.
Akpo Sodje put the Addicks ahead on 22 minutes when he fired Kyel Reid's low cross home from six yards.
Reid then went close to doubling the lead with a long-range free-kick.
